The Timaeus of Plato

R.D. Archer-Hind's "The Timaeus of Plato" invites readers into one of Plato's most ambitious philosophical works: the *Timaeus*, a dialogue in which questions about the nature of the cosmos, the structure of reality, and the origins of life are explored through a blend of reason, mythic imagery, and mathematical thinking. Guided by Archer-Hind's clear presentation, the text moves from the problem of how order arises from chaos, to Plato's account of the world's creation, including the role of the divine craftsman and the principles that shape matter and time. Along the way, the dialogue offers a striking vision of how human understanding—especially through geometry and proportion—can make the universe intelligible. The Timaeus of Plato is an unchanged, high-quality reprint of the original edition of 1888.
