The Finding of Wineland the Good

Arthur Middleton Reeves' "The Finding of Wineland the Good" brings to life the enduring mystery of Norse voyages to North America and the search for the legendary land known to the Vikings as Wineland. Drawing on historical records, saga traditions, and the clues left behind in geography and archaeology, the book traces how the idea of a “good” new world beyond the known seas took shape—and how scholars have tried to match story to evidence. With a focus on both the human drama of exploration and the careful process of historical reasoning, Reeves makes the past feel immediate: daring journeys across harsh waters, the shifting fortunes of crews and communities, and the tantalizing possibility that the Vikings reached far farther than most people once believed. The Finding of Wineland the Good is an unchanged, high-quality reprint of the original edition of 1895.
