Salmagundi - Vol. I

"Salamgundi" (Vol. I) is a lively, satirical collection by James Kirke Paulding and Washington Irving, built from sketches, letters, and humorous observations that capture the everyday life, quirks, and contradictions of their world. Blending playful wit with sharp social commentary, the authors invite readers to wander through scenes of city bustle, fashionable pretensions, and cultural fads—often turning familiar subjects into something surprising. With its mixture of parody, irony, and vivid character impressions, the book feels both entertaining and subtly critical, offering a fresh look at manners, taste, and public life through the lens of clever humor. Salmagundi - Vol. I is an unchanged, high-quality reprint of the original edition of 1897.
