Treatise on Atonement

Hosea Ballou's "Treatise on Atonement" offers a compelling critique of traditional atonement theories, emphasizing God's boundless love and the moral transformation of humanity. Challenging the notion of substitutionary sacrifice, Ballou advocates for a view where divine forgiveness arises from God's inherent mercy rather than punitive punishment. He explores how divine justice and compassion harmonize, urging readers to understand atonement as an act of moral reconciliation rooted in divine benevolence. This thought-provoking work invites reflection on the nature of salvation, emphasizing that God's love is unconditional and accessible to all, inspiring a more compassionate and inclusive faith perspective. Treatise on Atonement is an unchanged, high-quality reprint of the original edition of 1882.
