The History of the Reformation of the Church of England - Vol. V

In the fifth volume of "The History of the Reformation of the Church of England", Gilbert Burnet continues to trace—step by step—the turbulent transformation of the English church. Drawing on contemporary evidence and a keen sense of political and spiritual consequence, he follows how doctrine, authority, and public life became tightly interwoven as reforming ideas met resistance, compromise, and renewed struggle. Burnet highlights the motives of key figures, the pressures exerted by the crown and Parliament, and the wider European currents that shaped events in England. As the narrative unfolds, the reader is drawn into a period where religious change was never merely theological: it was a force that reshaped institutions and tested loyalties. The History of the Reformation of the Church of England - Vol. V is an unchanged, high-quality reprint of the original edition of 1865.
