The Congregationalism of the last Three Hundred Years - Vol. I

Henry Martyn Dexter traces the evolution of Congregationalism over the last three hundred years, showing how a distinctive church tradition formed, adapted, and endured through changing religious and social conditions. Across historical periods, Dexter examines the beliefs and practices that shaped Congregational life—how communities organized themselves, how authority was understood, and how disputes and reforms influenced what congregations became. Rather than treating Congregationalism as a static system, the book presents it as a living movement: responsive to internal convictions, responsive to wider Protestant developments, and continually redefined by the needs and conscience of its members. The Congregationalism of the last Three Hundred Years - Vol. I is an unchanged, high-quality reprint of the original edition of 1879.
